Global Xpress (GX) VSAT service on Inmarsat I5 Ka Band satellites is on course to become a single, global solution for VSAT by 2016.  Service is available now for select areas and global coverage is coming soon.  The significant value of GX is the ability to leverage the same technology wherever you need VSAT services.  

GX is accessed through a portfolio of portable, fixed and mobile terminals and a wide range of service plans that allow us to meet your communications requirements.  The days of managing multiple legacy VSAT service contracts with differing service level agreements and satellite terminal standards are numbered. It’s all changing with Global Xpress, which will deliver the first global Ka-band high-speed broadband service from a single satellite network operator, and will be the only service to offer continuous, end-to-end, high bandwidth, seamlessly, and on a worldwide at land or sea.

Seamless Global Coverage

Wherever your organization decides to expand the reach of its operations, Global Xpress will have you covered, giving you the flexibility you need to adjust your service levels according to your regional requirements under a single global contract. Global Xpress services are delivered over the Inmarsat-5s satellites. The first satellite is now powering services over Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and the second – which will serve the Americas and Atlantic Ocean Region – successfully launched on 1 February 2015. Following the launch of the third satellite in the constellation (I-5 F3), Inmarsat will progress towards final global commercial service introduction of GX.

These plans ensure implementation of the quality of service needed in order to deliver bandwidth for your voice, data and streaming applications, all backed by a robust service level agreement (SLA).

Global Xpress operates in the Ka-band spectrum, which enables higher throughput service delivery than comparable Ku-band and C-band legacy services. As Inmarsat owns and operates the entire network, it is optimally managed to ensure that satellite resources are used efficiently for service levels to remain consistently high.

Total Cost of Ownership

Global Xpress offers different service models for ‘fixed’ and ‘occasional use’ scenarios. For fixed scenarios, service plans are available for a single monthly recurring charge, giving you full predictability and control of your budget.

Multiple GX Terminal Options

Global Xpress delivers high data rates through compact terminals that come in portable, mobile or fixed form-factor with fixed terminals easily transportable from one location to another. These Inmarsat type-approved terminals are simple to set up and use with each terminal having their own single, global IP address. The portfolio ranges in size from 60cm, lightweight and highly portable terminals with low power consumption for those needing a high-speed mobile office wherever their operations take them, through to fixed-site installations of up to 2.4m.

Inmarsat Reliability

Inmarsat has been operating the most reliable mobile satellite communications network for over 30 years and quality of service is fundamental to our business. All Global Xpress ground systems and infrastructure are fully redundant. In addition, Global Xpress services are complemented by our BGAN services on the Inmarsat-4 satellites, which can deliver near 100% network availability as a back-up solution, or be your primary service for lower-bandwidth or machine-to-machine communications. Inmarsat uses commercial best practices for network security throughout our operations and customer support, and our services have been trusted by governments and military operations all over the world.
